January sets the tone for the year ahead, and as we begin this Month of Focus, God is calling us to anchor our hearts in what is unchanging and eternal—truth. In a world filled with noise, opinions, and shifting standards, focus becomes essential. And our focus must begin with Jesus, because He is not only our Savior—He is Truth itself.
Jesus declares in John 14:6 (NLT), “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
This statement is both comforting and clarifying. Truth is not a concept or a philosophy; truth is a Person. When our focus is fixed on Jesus, we are grounded in what is real, secure, and life-giving.
In this Year of Expansion, clarity is critical. Expansion without truth leads to confusion, burnout, and compromise. But when Jesus is at the center of our focus, our growth is guided by wisdom and grace. He shows us not only where to go, but how to live as we go.
Jesus also promised that we would not walk this journey alone. In John 16:13 (NLT), He says, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.” The Holy Spirit is our daily guide, gently leading us, correcting us, and reminding us of God’s promises. When we focus on His voice, we gain discernment for decisions, direction for our steps, and peace in uncertain moments.
Truth is further strengthened through God’s Word. Jesus prayed in John 17:17 (NLT), “Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.” The Word of God shapes our thinking, refines our character, and aligns our lives with heaven’s purpose. Without regular focus on Scripture, we risk allowing culture, fear, or emotion to shape our beliefs instead of God’s truth.
This January, focus is more than a theme—it is a spiritual discipline. It’s choosing to return to the Word when distractions pull at us. It’s allowing the Spirit of Truth to challenge our assumptions and renew our minds. It’s trusting that God’s truth will prepare us for the expansion ahead.
As God expands our influence, vision, and territory, He also desires to expand our understanding of truth. When we stay focused on Jesus, led by the Spirit, and grounded in the Word, we are positioned to grow without losing our way.
Let this month be a reset. Fix your focus on Jesus. Listen closely to the Spirit of Truth. Immerse yourself in the Word. In doing so, you will walk confidently into this Year of Expansion—rooted, refined, and ready for all God has prepared.
When we focus on truth, we walk in freedom. When we follow Jesus, we never walk in confusion.
